Join us for the First Annual PDX Ballroom Classic on January 21, 2012!

USA Dance is proud to host the first annual PDX Ballroom Classic in January at the Scottish Rite in Portland, OR! This amateur competition is for youth, adults, teens, and team competitors. And of course, we can’t have a competition without spectators!

2011 Day of Dance

Join us for our annual Day of Dance on Saturday, September 17th!

Five hours of FREE beginner dance lessons, followed by a general dance party in the evening. No partner is required – just bring yourself, family, friends, fiance, even your next door neighbor. If you’ve wanted to try ballroom dancing but haven’t yet, now is the time!

We have assembled some of the best pro dance instructors in the Metro area who are volunteering their time and energy to introduce you to the wonderful world of ballroom. Don’t miss this great opportunity to get a feel for what ballroom dancing is all about! After all, it only comes once a year.

The Day of Dance is designed for the new dancer or for those who have always wanted to dance, but were rather timid, shy, or even afraid to go to a dance! From the elegant Waltz to the Cha-Cha, the East Coast Swing to the Foxtrot, the Rumba to the Salsa, you can try as many as you like! It’s all there for you take it all in. And remember, the lessons are free! (Although a $1 donation per lesson would be appreciated!)

Quest for the Best Competition Series in Seattle

We are pleased to invite you to the second of three Quest for the Best dance competitions in 2011! The Seattle USA Dance chapter hosts a 3-competition scholarship series called the “Quest for the Best.” We award placings at each event and scholarship winners are determined by points accumulated over the course of the three events.

Scholarship purse. The scholarship purse was more than $2,000 for 2008, 2009, and 2010. The 2011 scholarship status has been posted on the web site; we want to offer a larger scholarship purse this year. The scholarship purse is created by taking a portion of the profits and distributing the money according to the rules posted on our website at www.qftb.org. So invite your friends and family to support you by coming to the event and watching you compete. The more dollars at the door, the larger the scholarship purse. Come and join the fun!

Convenient on-line registration and ticket sales. On-line registration for the April 23 QftB is available on our web site at www.qftb.org. Tickets are $15 at the door; they are not available on-line. The on-line registration deadline is Thursday, April 14, 2011.

Learning opportunities. This is a perfect opportunity to debut a new partnership and polish competitive skills. Local audiences are very supportive, especially for newcomers.

Formation Teams. To help create affordable opportunities to participate in DanceSport, the Quest for the Best is offering formation teams doing demos to attend at no charge. Any member of the formation team competing in other events will have to pay the entry fee. More details on our site at www.qftb.org.

School Name. Your school name is required this year to help make it easier to contact you. If you do not want to specify a school please use “School – Multiple” or “School – Not Applicable.”

Lost & Found. The Lost and Found box is overflowing. If you are missing any items please contact Mike Kheriaty at michael.kheriaty@earthlink.net. All items not claimed prior to the April 23 Quest for the Best will be placed on a table in the warm up room for everyone to take what they want. At the end of the April QftB, all unclaimed items will be donated.

Dear Dancers,

Happy New Year! We are excited to announce that in addition to the 2011 World Cup Standard, the 2011 SnowBall will feature the world’s best latin dancers.

We have received confirmation that Zoran Plohl and Tatsiana Lahvinovich from Croatia and Martino Zanibellato and Michelle Abildrup from Denmark, two of the finalists in the recent World Latin Championships in New York, will attend. If you missed them in New York, see them in Vancouver. If you saw them in New York, see them again!
