Northwest DanceSport Championships in Seattle
October 24th & 25th

We are pleased to invite you to spend an October weekend with us!
Be advised that event entries close October 17, 2009. Hotel rooms need to be purchased by October 10, 2009. Please go to our website at www.nwdsc.org to register or purchase hotel rooms.

Hotel Rooms!
The Hilton has been kind enough to extend a rate of $129.00 (plus taxes) per night if booked by October 10th, 2009. If you manage to find a better rate online or through some other method, be sure to mention that you are with USA Dance Inc. when you check in.It helps keep competition costs down when USA Dance Seattle fills guest rooms.

Scholarship purse of $4250 and growing
For those wishing to help out and increase this award, sponsors can proceed to our website ticket sales and select “Scholarships” then “Donate a Scholarship” in the left hand menu to donate. All scholarship supporters will be given special acknowledgement in the program.

Convenient on-line registration and ticket sales
Online registration and ticket sales are available on our Web site at www.nwdsc.org. To guarantee your name will appear in the program, you must register by October 9th 2009. A $10/event late entry fee will be applied for all entries made between October 9 and October 17, 2009. Entries close October 17, 2009.

Competition-like Standard Practice Rounds!
Prior to the Northwest DanceSport Championships, standard practice rounds will be held on Sunday, October 11th, at 6:30 – 8:00 pm at DanceSport International, 12535 Lake City Way NE in Seattle.

There will be a River City Ball Welcome Dance Friday night at The Scottish Rite Temple from 7:00 P.M. to 11:00 P.M.

FREE PARKING is available across from the Scottish Rite behind the Artists Repertory Theatre. There will be a sign indicating parking only for USA Dance events.

Amateur Competition

July 10th & 11th

It is time to mark your calendars for the annual River City Ball, Oregon’s only all-amateur dance competition presented by Willamette Chapter #1006 of USA Dance! It will be held this year on Friday and Saturday, July 10 and 11, 2009 at the Scottish Rite Temple in downtown Portland.

There will be a Welcome Dance Friday night (July 10^th) at The Scottish Rite Temple from 7:00 P.M. to 11:00 P.M.

UPDATE: the start time has changed from 4:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. All competitors should arrive at least 30 minutes prior to their scheduled heat. Please View current entries for the approximate times for each heat.

Friday evening will host a welcome social dance with all competitions to be held on Saturday. New this year, will be a separate room dedicated for practicing competitors! We will have much more information forthcoming as it develops. On-line registration will be on our website as well. Please check back for updated information. This year promises to be a great River City Ball competition! Please pass the word along as we do not have an inclusive list of all competitors in the region. Looking forward to seeing you there!

Saturday, April 11th

The Willamette Chapter of USA Dance is proudly announcing our first dance for 2009, one of four. It is scheduled for Saturday evening, April 11, at the Scottish Rite.

Tickets available at the door:
$15 Members
$20 Non-members

Social dancing begins at 7:00 PM, as there is no class and has for its theme, the Rain Dance (April showers bring May flowers!). And with an added bonus:

We will be showcasing many studios and their students during intermission of our dance. This will be in lieu of a lesson prior to the dance. We would like to promote as many studios who choose to participate, in highlighting their particular talents in a dance discipline, be it ballroom, latin, jazz, swing, performance group, etc. And in so doing, our dance guests will be treated not only to a fabulous showcase of talent, but will be exposed to much of what the metro area dance community has to offer. In addition, this dance event will also be accompanied by themed decorations as well as appetizers and desserts.

This is the first of what we plan to be a very successful year for USA Dance, Willamette Chapter. Let’s make this the best of what we, the dance community, has to offer our dance enthusiasts.

Yes! You read that correctly! There will be 41 free parking spaces available in the parking garage directly across the street from the Scottish Rite Temple under the Artists Repertory Theatre for our Rain Dance. As of the first of this month, the garage is back in the possession of Scottish Rite and they are giving us the parking spaces at no charge!
Please note: there are some spaces, however, that are marked clearly with “for Scottish Rite members only”. These spaces cannot be used! There will be a sign posted outside the entrance to the parking garage (which is on 16th Street) that says “Parking for USA Dance Only”. In addition, there is on-street parking as well as the DeLuxe Hotel parking garage at just $3.00 for the evening.

Linda Springstead Benefit Dance at the Sesame

Thank you to everyone who attended the Linda Springstead Benefit dance at the Renaissance Ballroom.

Linda Springstead has recently been diagnosed with Stage 4 Lung Cancer. It has spread to her spine and Lymph Nodes.
We must come together for one of our own…
