There is an old Eskimo saying that “free is a very good price.” Well, on September 18th, free is what you will get, as in dance lessons. Portland #1006 is sponsoring the annual “Day of Dance,” where we offer dance lessons in Rumba, Waltz, East Coast-West Coast Swing, Salsa, Foxtrot, and who knows what else will come up. This is our way to introduce to those intrepid souls who have always wanted to dance, but were rather timid about it, to actually get a lesson or two, or three, or all of them! Within the relaxed casual setting of the Scottish Rite Temple, this is the day where the newcomer or beginner can be exposed to a variety of dances taught by some of Portland’s best professional dance instructors, who have volunteered their services for free! You know someone who so wants to learn to dance, so, tell them about the Day of Dance!
The activities begin at 10:00am, concluding at 4:30pm. A short break follows before the hot Salsa lesson at 7:00pm to 8:00pm. Then we have our general dance party, from 8-11pm. There is a charge for this evening dance party. $7 for members of USA Dance, $10 for nonmembers. All in all, you will be assured of having a great time with fellow dancers of all ages and levels. It’s the beauty, energy, poetry of dance that gets us all involved. And let’s not forget the socializing with new found friends, renewing old friendships, and just having a wonderful day/evening at our Day of Dance!
And to top it off, there will be a couple of hot and exciting Salsa showcase performances courtesy from pro instructor Bree Blevins!
So come on! Tell your family, friends, co-workers, fellow coffee drinkers, everyone you meet! This is the Day of Dance and the lessons are FREE!
