Amateur Competition
July 10th & 11th
It is time to mark your calendars for the annual River City Ball, Oregon’s only all-amateur dance competition presented by Willamette Chapter #1006 of USA Dance! It will be held this year on Friday and Saturday, July 10 and 11, 2009 at the Scottish Rite Temple in downtown Portland.
There will be a Welcome Dance Friday night (July 10th) at The Scottish Rite Temple from 7:00 P.M. to 11:00 P.M.
UPDATE: the start time has changed from 4:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. All competitors should arrive at least 30 minutes prior to their scheduled heat. Please View current entries for the approximate times for each heat.
Friday evening will host a welcome social dance with all competitions to be held on Saturday. New this year, will be a separate room dedicated for practicing competitors! We will have much more information forthcoming as it develops. On-line registration will be on our website as well. Please check back for updated information. This year promises to be a great River City Ball competition! Please pass the word along as we do not have an inclusive list of all competitors in the region. Looking forward to seeing you there!

Registration will be available on-line, through this website, as soon as the details are finalized. We will also take registration at the door, though it is preferable to register in advance as the person would then be listed on the program. We will be sending out an email announcement, with the various registration options, as soon as it’s available.
My dance partner, Elizabeth, and I would like to register for the River City Ball Amateur Competition on July 10 and 11, 2009 for the Vienese Waltz. Please advise how to register. Thank you, John Kratochvil

I was wondering what the breakdown of the times are. What time is the dance on Friday, and when does the competition begin on Saturday.

The board is busy working on preparations for this weekend’s Rain Dance, which is going to be a great event, with dancing and numerous performances.
